For me, this year needs to get out of the way. I have a couple major business moves I need to execute to build the next layer of my MEGA (Small Business) EMPIRE <moo-hoo-haa-haa>. No, for real, I’m excited about the potential this year holds. I’m so done with the pandemic … from a business perspective. I am masked up & 6, maybe 7, feet away from the next soul. However, it’s high time to get back into full Small Business gear!!
I am expanding my investment real estate portfolio. Including, starting my own property management company, to support my local properties. Lots of new tax implications. Oh, and I’m reactivating my real estate license, with a focus LESS on commissions and MORE on — ROI, cash flow, appreciation, etc. Even more tax implications. It just so happens that I am Tax Advisor. And not just any Tax Advisor. I have been ‘geaked out’ (i.e. loving every aspect of anything dealing with tax law, the tax code, tax anything) over tax, accounting and finance ever since I was a “Wee Lad”.
The tax code is an unforgiving beast of burden. It buries itself in thousands of pages of legislation. It often turns on a single word or two. Sidebar: I was a patent examiner for 10 years (in one of my prior lives). Besides the cool inventions I myself worked on, the thing I was most fascinated by was patent litigation. I was at the US Supreme Court when they heard oral arguments on the RIM vs. NTP case (this was the big 2+ billion dollar lawsuit against blackberry – do you remember blackberry?). Now, aside from the merits of the case, I thought it fascinating that the more expensive the litigation, the less words were at bar. Here, the case turned on the definition of the word “interface” (or “interface switch). How would you define that word so you could win 2+ billion dollars, lol?! Short story long – tax law is everything in business. And the devil’s in the details.
If you are feeling the vibes that I am sending out here then great. Moreover, if you are feeling like you could use some tax consultation, etc., even better. Obviously, I love to talk … and I super love to talk tax.
AsQ Prince!
Cheers.
